In the article of the "let there be Wi-Fi", it mention about the internet speed in USA is slow. “I kinda agree about that. The price of the internet here is expensive and slow. I am now using the Comcast internet and they charge me like 60 dollars a month. I had tried to download files and document and the fastest speed is one point five MB per second and it is very unstable. However, the internet service I used in Hong Kong is about 10 dollars per month and it is fast. The maximum speed is 5 MB per second and it is very stable. In Asian country, the function of internet is kind of board, from the range of e-business, making appointment, getting news, searching information and making transaction. Therefore, a high quality internet with low price is vital.

I remember that like ten years ago, before the broadband was invented, we still used the 56k cable internet to connect our computer. However, The 56k cable was very slow and unstable. Because of the limited internet speed of 56k, we can only run very simple program on the internet, like sending emails and using ICQ. However, when computer programs become more complicated, they require faster and more stable internet service to support. That is why the broadband was invented. However, broadband internet can be use at your home or office only, it is kind of inconvenience. Nowadays, the internet card was installed in the cell phone and notebook computer. In order to convenience the internet user, the research and develop of some company invent the Wi-Fi. That is a technology that supports the wireless internet function of the cell phone and notebook computer.

This article mentioned about a concept of the digital divide. “The digital divide is the ever-growing gap between those people and communities who have access to information technology and those who do not.” nowadays, many people will use the internet to obtain information, doing e-business, doing communication and making appointment. We depend on internet for our live. However, in some third world country, they cannot get the internet accessed, it leads them to obtain less information then we does. In the real world, we always use many internets communicating technology to communicate like MSN, email and skype. Those who have not access to internet will use the tradition ways to communicate since they have no idea about the internet communicating technology. we can also see that there is a trend that the traditional communications technology are tied with the internet, such as, some cell phone companies now offer cell phone internet access services. You can now download songs, watching instance stock market information, watching video from youtube, checking emails and even playing MSN though your cell phone. People will leave behind the world if they are not using that internet communicating technology. Moreover, the mass media sometimes will choose the topic that is newsworthy from the internet. After the mass media will report or set agenda for those topic, more cyber-media will focus on those topic. It will be like a cycle. The mass media is cooperating with the cyber media. They are also correlated. As a result, we have to know more knowledge about cyber media.

In my last word, I also consider that the writer talk about the “five puzzle pieces—access, content, literacy, pedagogy and communit” are related to the digital divide very much.

what makes sense to you? I consider that the situation of human combine with the machine and the organism will occur one day in the future. It will break down all of our boundaries between human and animals, human and machine, women and men.

What doesn’t make sense? there is two part I feel like it is doesn’t make any sense, the first part is she talk about “the new economic and technological arrangement are also related to the collapsing welfare state and the ensuing intensification of demands on women” I don’t quiet understand based on which fact or evidence she come up with this conclusion, she should have more explanation on this part. I really can’t see the fact of being cyborgs will lead to the situation above. The other things that she talks about “the culture of the video game will lead to the electronic and nuclear warfare” don’t make any sense to me. It seems to me that these are not related too.

How does Haraway’s manifest to connect to our conversations on digital diversity in general? The new technology of hybrid of human will build up a new digital world. human will be go into the new age of boundless different. It will affect all the political system, social system, social ethic and norms and culture.

More specifically, what questions/issues/concerns/proclamations does she raise with respect to gender and technology? When I read the article, I kind of concern about the following part ”we lose interest in ongoing conversation with phantasmagoric being we had never met in person, I don’t really care to converse with you.”I figure out that the new technology of the internet reduce our intention to communicate with interpersonally in the real world. However, one of the main purposes of building up the internet is to help people on communication. However, because the internet offers human an easy way to communicate, it makes people addict in or rely on the technology to communicate. As a result, it reduced the people’s intension to communicate in the real world. When we look at the people in the third world country, we will found out that people who live in those countries, have very close interpersonal relationship even thought they don’t have hi-tech equipment to help them in communicate with each other.

In author told us that she has experienced that she depends too much on the internet. In many countries, the young generations use the internet to communicate to others as a habit; I lead them to lose the skill to communicate with the people in the real world. They get far away from the society and eliminated from the real world. In my opinion, internet is not a bad thing or a negative word, unless you use it probably and it should not affect our real life. Since in our world, we cannot get rid of using internet, we pay our bill form the internet, we work thought internet and get information from the internet. We should spent more resource from the government to teach the young generation how to use the internet properly. As the author said in the article, she recalled some good memories from using the new technology.

In my last word, I consider technology is a thing we use that, but should not depend on that.

The main idea of the two articles is talking about the evolution of internet technology break down the boundary of race and ethic; it builds up a platform for communication between different nations. Therefore we should not underestimation the affect of society because of the power of cyber. For instance, the form of economic, politic and education can be altered because of the internet. Even more, the quality of our life will be improve due to the convenience offer by the internet.

According to the first article, many company use the graphical and video which display the racial and ethnic difference for their advisement on the internet. There was an ads which make me impressive is the Coca-Cola’s one. The picture show people from different race hold their hand together and sing. The other one which a also like is the one from IBM. In that ad, people from different nations “say” IBM with different accent. These facts giving strong evidence that indicates because of the internet, the distance of every people getting closer regardless of different age, gender, race and ethic. In the internet, while we know more friends thought weblog such as fackbook and friendsters, making discussion thought the forum or discussion board and watching video from youtube. It help us to know more about the facts from different countries, communiticate with different people with different nationality and provide different views on a specific issue by people from different fields. As a result, it breaks down the limit between different people. Therefore, in the first sentence of the article, the writer states a statement “there is no race. There is no gender. There is no age. There are no infirmities. There are only minds. Utopia? No, internet.

The level of freedom of speech and the flowing of information on the internet is what we have never seen in the history. Besides, the MUD is getting more and more famous in the internet. After I have read the second article, I consider that it is a good idea to add @race properties in the MooScape.
